Movie List

Wow, Alex has been spending so much time on this stupid server. Why does he always talk about it? I don’t really care about it that much. BECAUSE I wanted my first post to be of movies that are hosted on that server and we could watch together with trailers and descriptions. Click the “Movie List” above to see it.

Chefs table – Jeong Kwan

This is not really a movie, wow one post in and I’m already messing it up. But something Buddhist had to go up front  what with this being a temple and all and this is something I have been wanting to watch for a while. Chef’s Table is a Netflix documentary series where each one hour episode focuses on a chef somewhere in the world. I saw the first season but this episode is in the third season. It focuses on a Zen Buddhist nun named Jeong Kwan who makes the temple food at her temple. She talks about how she makes it and how she tries to express Buddhist teachings and enlightenment through her food. Looks pretty neat.

Your Name

Now apparently in Japan this movie was a pretty big deal. It was very popular and had a lot of critical acclaim. I am picky when it comes to anime because a lot of it becomes shitty otaku flick. But from what I heard not this one. I don’t know too much about it but I know its good.

Amilie

Yeah, so the guy in this trailer’s voice is kinda shitty. But the movie is supposed to be really great! Everyone has heard of this movie and it is part of the reason that people think Paris is this perfect romantic bright magical city. And part of the reason why the Japanese go crazy when they find out its not.

Miyazaki Movies

Wow, so hard to find one trailer for what must be over a dozen amazing movies. My Neighbor Totoro, Laputa Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke, Kiki’s Deliver Service, Ponyo, etc. All these movies are really colorful feel good movies that can turn your day around.

Island of Dogs

An island, dogs… Need I say more? This guy Wes Anderson made some pretty famous movies such as Grand Budapest Hotel, The Royal Tenenbaums, Bottlerocket. And I hated all of them. But what sets this one apart form the rest are dogs. This movie is cast fully of dogs (and one boy, but whatever, fuck that kid) DOGS. Steve in Portland saw this one and seemed to like it a lot.
